Visit Champaign County Highlights Local Cuisine During Third Annual Restaurant Week

Continuing to celebrate our award-winning culinary scene, Visit Champaign County will once again showcase local restaurants in the greater Champaign County area with the return of Restaurant Week.

 

The third annual Champaign County Area Restaurant Week, held January 25–February 2, 2019, encourages residents and visitors to discover new restaurants, flavors, and dishes during this week-long celebration. After two successful years, Visit Champaign County continues to expand the number of participants, with 26 lined up to for 2019 from as far east as Saint Joseph and as far west as Monticello.

 

“Our food scene continues to evolve in our community, with new flavors and cuisines adding to our already impressive mix of local restaurants,” states Terri Reifsteck, Vice President of Marketing from Visit Champaign County. “Six of this year’s participants are restaurants that opened in 2018, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to discover something new. While many of the restaurants that helped us achieve the title of Midwest Living’s Greatest Midwest Food Town return, showcasing new dishes across many cuisines and cooking styles.”

 

The 2019 Champaign County Area Restaurant Week will offer lunch and dinner specials at participating restaurants within the communities served by Visit Champaign County, including all of Champaign County, Monticello, Tuscola and Arthur. Diners will be able to select from prix-fixe lunch menus starting at $9, or dinner menus at $19, $29 or $39 per person. Restaurants may feature a special menu for the week or offer their discounts on existing menu items. Diners can also participate in an Instagram contest, sharing their pictures and experiences with #CCRestaurantWeek for a chance to win a $100 gift card to their Champaign County area restaurant of choice.

 

“I’m proud of the diversity in food we have to showcase all year round, but especially during Restaurant Week,” explains Reifsteck. “It perfectly captures what makes the greater Champaign County area ‘Outside of Ordinary.’”

 

Participating restaurants include: Baldarotta’s Porketta and Sicilian Sausage, Baxter’s American Grille, Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano, Big Grove Tavern, The Bread Company, Caribbean Grill, Clever Moose Café, Crane Alley, Dancing Dog Eatery & Juicery, Hamilton Walker’s, Houlihan’s, JT Walker’s Restaurant, Kohinoor Indian Restaurant & Lounge, Lodgic’s Everyday Kitchen, Monarch Brewing Company, Nando Milano Trattoria, Neil St. Blues, The Pink Pig, Pizzeria Antica, Project 47 Smokehouse, Red Herring Vegetarian Restaurant, Silvercreek, Sticky Rice, Sun Singer Wine & Spirits, V. Picasso, and The Wheelhouse.
