Local Fall Flavors to Try around Champaign County
Fall brings changing leaves, cooler weather, and some pretty incredible seasonal spices and flavors that make food, beer, and dessert around this time of year extra special! There are so many amazing seasonal offerings at local restaurants, breweries, and bakeries, it’s worth taking stock of some of the amazing local fall flavors to try around Champaign County.
Pumpkin Spice Season
Love it or hate it, this time of year is all about pumpkin flavored everything. For a local PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte), Bossa Nova is serving up the autumnal beverage. If you’re looking for a different take on the pumpkin latte, Café Kopi is doing a Pumpkin Pie Frappuccino, served cold and getting your taste buds ready for the new season. Lastly, if you’re a big fan of pumpkin treats, the Homestead Bakery at The Great Pumpkin Patch is the place to go, with pumpkin flavored Cinnamon Rolls, Cookies, and Bread.
Get your Oktoberfest On!
Oktoberfest is a celebration of German beer and food, and we have plenty of place to celebrate around Champaign County. An entire festival, CU Oktoberfest, highlights German culture and cuisine. Plus, you can enjoy a special Oktoberfest menu at Sun Singer from now through October 5th. If it’s really just the beer you’re looking for, two local breweries, Riggs and Triptych, have incredible Oktoberfest brews on tap in their pour rooms.

If you’ve still got an itch for fall flavors, there are more places to check out! Hopscotch Bakery + Market does a number of fall pastries, but their homemade spiced apple cider is actually spiced in house with nearly 10 ingredients to perfect that fall flavor. The Greenhouse Café at Allerton Park and Retreat Center is also serving fall ice creams for these odd summer-fall transition days, including options in pumpkin, apple cider, and maple.
