Aikman Wildlife Adventure's New Summer Hours are Here!
Aikman Wildlife Adventure is one of the greater Champaign County area's most unique attractions. Everything you think you know about the traditional zoo experience doesn't apply here. Simply put, Aikman isn't a zoo. It's a chance to get up close and personal with incredible animals. It's also growing in its offerings in terms of tours, adventures, and experiences. Aikman Wildlife Adventure is operating with new summer hours, and if you haven't been in awhile (or ever) now is the time to make the trip to Arcola!
Aikman wildlife adventure summer hours and must-see experiences
Aikman Wildlife Adventure is located in Arcola, Illinois. If you're in the C-U area, it's less than an hour drive and certainly a trip worth making. The drive-thru park is best known for being one of few places where you can see and take pictures of animals right out of your vehicle while you drive along the park's 1-mile long path. On-foot experiences in their Walk-Thru Adventure also give you great interactions with peacocks, hyenas, wolfdogs, lemurs and much more. There's a petting zoo, a great gift shop, and a ton of really great opportunities to interact with animals like you've never seen them before.
For the summer, Aikman Wildlife is launching their new hours of operation. Stop by on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am - 5pm, or Sunday from 12pm - 5pm. They're closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Over 100 animals are on-site for up-close experiences. If you haven't made the trip before, it's definitely time to do so. It's not all about the living animals either.
In Aikman's Museum of Prehistoric Life, you're not held back by glass cases containing fossils you can merely see. The Museum's motto is "Don’t Settle for Bones Behind Barriers." All creatures of the past in the museum are life size and created in full detail for hands-on experiences. Take a selfie with a life-size sabertooth tiger. Compare your height with a to-scale dinosaur. It's yet another incentive for making the trip to Arcola for this Outside of Ordinary experience.
