Where To Hunt Easter Eggs in Champaign County

April 13, 2022

We're hopping into Easter weekend and getting our baskets ready for community Easter Egg Hunts. Young or old, there's a hunt on the horizon for you to enjoy this weekend. Check out our list and make your plans!

FOR THE ADULTS

Champaign Park District is bringing back their popular Nite Lite Egg Pursuit at Hessel Park. For those 18 and up who are embracing their inner child, you can head out with your flashlight to hunt for eggs filled with prizes and some special eggs with prize packages. Register onsite and when the clock strikes 8:10 p.m., race your competitors to find the top prizes.

A DOWNTOWN HUNT

Bring the kids out Saturday morning to West Side Park on the edge of downtown Champaign. The Champaign Park District will offer their annual Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Keeping things even, kids will be separated into age groups as they hunt for eggs around this urban park. Before or after filling your basket, hop on a hayrack ride around the area! While in downtown, pick up some brunch and do a little shopping at the many stops in the area.

A HELICOPTER DROP

File this under unique Easter Egg Hunts, the Rantoul Family Sports Complex invites kids of all ages to come out for their Easter Candy Drop where a helicopter will fly over the complex and drop candy from above. Report by 10 a.m. to get a chance to see candy falling from the sky to chase after. While there, check out their playground and concession stands, and stick around for the weekend tournaments.

ON THE FIELD

While Fighting Illini Baseball takes on the Northwestern Wildcats this Saturday, they invite kids to stick around after the game for an egg hunt on Illinois Field. If you're one of the first 100 kids onsite, you'll get a Illinois Baseball Easter Basket to use for the occasion! Get to the game early for photos with the Easter Bunny to make it a full, fun day at America's past time.

MONTICELLO HUNT

Head over to Monticello for a "serious" Easter Egg Hunt at Forest Preserve Park. Bring your game face, and your basket, by 10 a.m. to run out and find all the goodies. Kids will be split into two age groups to allow everyone the chance to find some eggs. Get there by 9:30 a.m. for the $1 registration.
